Don't Pull out my Face Hair...

Ok, so the other day I went to a wedding of a teacher at my school...which I should tell you about that sometime too...but it would have to be another total post. ..but anyways, I'm sitting at the table with a bunch of my classmates enjoying good food and good music. Before I go into this story I need to give you a little background on the people here. If you have hair growing on your face, no matter how long, no matter if you are a guy or a girl...people don't like to pluck it, or get rid of it. My understanding is that if you have this long hair it means that you are wise, or something like that. So, it's not uncommon here to see a man with a mole on his face with super long hairs growing out of it...when I see that I ALWAYS wish that I had scissors, or tweezers, or something! So, back to the wedding...I'm talking to this girl and I go to brush this hair off her face, as I go to do it, she says something, but it doesn't register...but the hair is still there, so I go to brush it off her face again when what she says registers..."Zhang zhe ne" (it's growing) meaning "Stop trying to get rid of that hair because it's growing on my face and I like it"!!!

I think that Americans have hair phobias - we just want to get rid of it all! It is crazy to me that there are men who choose to shave their arms, legs, and underarms! (As a side note... I hate to say it, but we used to make fun of a girl who had a little billy-goat tuft of hair that grew from her neck. She rode on the bus with us, and you could only see it when the sun hit it just right... and it was long and thick. Yummy memories, indeed.)

True...however, I will say that more and more girls here are starting to shave their underarms. =)

Ok, so I don't even have a response to this. Part of me says 'gross'...and the other part says 'way to feel free'. Somehow though it just seems wrong.

Side note-I'm so glad you have a blog. Just another way to journey with you.
