good huntin out here
The other day our neighbor was telling us how much venison he had in his freezer and told us we would have to come over for it sometime. Then he said, "Yeah, our son in law hit one on our street a few weeks ago. And then right after that, his friend hit one on the highway. We just loaded them in our car and brought them home. You know that is legal in Texas."

That's actually not legal in Texas. You must have written consent of a game warden to take the roadkill. I stopped to help a deer that had been hit and called TPWD - long story short, they said they would be glad to have the help if I would put it down with my firearm, but they could not allow me to take it unless the game warden was on site to release, which would have been about 2 more hours - I shot the deer to put it out of its misery....the chicken fried venison you had at my house was legally taken in Val Verde county.
